I want to see if Isreal's songs are all like this. Anybody who can point me in the right direction (for more Isreal)?

Really thorough samples ---> http://cdbaby.com/cd/redorchestra

It is good music, and this particular album plays a lot like an old horror flick to me.

Hmm, none of those samples worked on this computer. =(

So I take it he's behind red orchestra. Does he speak the same way on all of his recordings?

israel is definitely an acquired taste, but i wouldn't say it's worse than that.
to each his own though.
personally, i really enjoyed both his and jon's songs on this album.
i would say i enjoy travelogue more, but i didn't take the album as a competition between the two bands, but rather between the characters within the story.
my only complaint would be that the songs were not what i originally thought they would be.
what i mean by that, is that i really thought they would take turns with the vox, music, or blend both together on trax rather than doing individual trax from one another.

I'm trying not to view it as a competition, it's a collaboration of course, I just felt the need to at least compare the two. As I said I do enjoy all of the songs.

I think if they had worked together on individual tracks it would have created a more consistent product. However I can only imagine the head-ache that could turn into.

Red Orchestra is where you find his other synth band...well the one i know of.  I am apparently in the minority for those on this site but I really like Israel's music.  His album "A Grim Misadventure" is one that I couldn't wait to get my hands on after I first saw a Red Orchestra performance and was not disappointed in the least.

It is obviously a style that has a limited audience but it seems to me that all music that is synth or electronic in nature tends to have a somewhat limited audience.  I have very few friends that enjoy it like I do and they often scoff (in a loving way) at me for my listening to artists like Joy Electric and Travelogue.

Anyway, there are is another record by Red Orchestra that and it is completely different from A Grim Misadventure.  I can't quite recall the title but I know there was something about test tubes I think in the title.

Test Tubes, Equations, & Creation Simulations.

I got MP3s of it from Plastiq Musiq's previous owner. It's a great little EP.

here we are in 2010 and i STILL love listening to this disc.
it is one of my favorites in my cd collection.
i probably give it a spin once a week.
i have actually grown quite fond of israel's style at this point, but especially when he would sing alongside jessica.
i think i really enjoy the experimental approach he adds to his work and how he tends to use big words that you usually wouldn't tend to run with in lyrics.
i have found another one of his projects via myspace that i found quite interesting, fair warning though, it is a secular project so there is some content i didn't personally care for (mainly two cuss words in "children's crusade", for those who wish to avoid it).

i don't know if the project is still active or not, but check it out and see what you think.

by the way, a while back they offered for people to send them in "samples" and they would work them into songs.
some guy sent them samples of his cat meowing and they worked it into the song "blood sport".

I listened to Prometheus and Red Orchestra's "A Grim Misadventure" a few times for some spooky fare last month. I posted about it at Joy Electric's forum but there wasn't a lot of discussion, heh.
